PAT Testing in Norwich and Norfolk
In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
What is a PAT test?
PAT Testing, also known as Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), or electrical equipment testing, is a regular inspection of electrical equipment, to help identify electrical faults and avoid any potential accidents or hazards.
Most importantly it ensures these items are safe for continued use.
Do you need a PAT test?
A PAT Test is important for Landlords of HMO’s or rental properties, and owners of holiday homes in Norwich, to demonstrate that electrical equipment is safe for continued use.
Government guidance states that when accommodation is re-let; electrical equipment should be re-checked.
Fixed appliances, like cookers and hand driers, also require testing; sometimes referred as Fixed Appliance Testing (FAT).
See current legislations relevant to electrical maintenance:
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HSWA)
- The Housing Act 2004 (England and Wales)
- The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
