PAT Testing in Norwich & Norfolk

Professional portable appliance testing for businesses, landlords and organisations

HMO Electrical provides reliable and straightforward PAT testing across Norwich and Norfolk, helping businesses, landlords and organisations keep their electrical equipment safe and their records up to date.

Whether you have a handful of appliances or several hundred, we provide practical PAT testing with clear results, pass/fail labels and documentation for your records.

PAT testing — or Portable Appliance Testing — is a combination of visual inspection and electrical testing used to assess whether portable electrical equipment is safe to use.

Depending on the type of equipment, testing can identify issues such as damaged cables, faulty insulation, earth faults and other electrical problems that may present a risk to users.

Following testing, you receive clear and useful records of the work carried out.

This includes:

  • Pass/fail labels applied to tested appliances
  • Clear test report for your records
  • Identification of failed items
  • Notification of any issues identified during testing

Where an appliance fails a test, I will explain the reason and advise you on the appropriate next step.

  • EAL Level 3 PAT Testing — 600/4340/4
  • NVQ Level 3
  • 18th Edition — 603/3298/0
  • Initial Verification — 600/4337/4
  • Periodic Inspection — 600/4338/6

We can’t recommend Andy enough. He has done a few jobs for us now - garage lighting, tidied up the garage wiring and cabling, outside socket and soon he will be back to install new loft lighting. Most recently he came to our rescue to sort out a problem when we were left without a power supply. He is polite, conscientious and works to a high standard. Thank you Andy.

Andy came to PAT test some of my equipment that I needed servicing at super short notice (same day infact!) He was really friendly, knowledgeable and got the job done in a short amount of time. Would highly recommend him to anyone.

Despite rubbish weather arrived on time. Job completed with no fuss. Nice friendly approach, and a reasonable price. No hesitation in using again. Thank you

There isn’t a blanket legal requirement for every electrical appliance to be PAT tested at a particular interval.

However, employers, landlords and other responsible persons have duties to ensure that electrical equipment is properly maintained and safe to use. PAT testing can form an important part of an appropriate electrical equipment inspection and maintenance programme.

The right approach depends on the type of equipment, how and where it is being used, and the level of risk involved.

If you’re unsure what your business or property needs, I can help you establish a practical testing approach.
